The personal details of around 2,000 university students were mistakenly shared in an email promoting a lecture.
The Creative Arts school at the University of Hertfordshire had sent out an email about a fine art talk with a visiting artist. The email also included an attachment with the recipients’ names and email addresses.
The email was sent to all students, and a vast majority of students were impacted as a result.
The university said: “We are contacting all affected students with information and advice. We are carrying out an internal investigation and have informed the Information Commissioner’s Office.”
The email was recalled.
More information to come.
