It may have been just over 6 weeks since the General Data Protection Regulation came into effect, yet recent reports reveal that many organisations are still not GDPR complaint.
A survey conducted by Dimensional Research highlighted that only 20% of companies surveyed believe they are GDPR compliant, while 53% are in the implementation phase and 27% have not yet started their implementation. Companies admitted they still had a lot to do to become fully compliant. The report revealed that 74% expect to be compliant by the end of 2018 and 93% by the end of 2019.
In addition, since 25th May, regulators across Europe have reported a sharp rise in complaints, which many believed was to be expected.
The surge in complaints shows that there is strong public interest in the new rules, which means that organisations should not ensure they continue to work towards GDPR compliance.
Data Protection World Forum (DPWF), has launched a series of workshops that aim to provide attendees with an opportunity to review their current compliance strategies in great depth.
The workshops are for those working on GDPR implementation and want guidance on continuing their journey to compliance, tying up any loose ends and looking to focus on specific issues or concerns they may have with their processes and strategy.
The workshops will be delivered by three experts in data protection all with extensive experience in the field:
- Ardi Kolah LL.M – GDPR Programme Director at Henley Business School
- Ivana Bartoletti – Head of Privacy and Data Protection, at Gemserv
